08 October 2010, Friday

I read a little part of the Hellen Keller biography. Then, it made me realize that studying is not as simple as reading a book overnight. You should learn beyond what is written or what is taught by thinking about it thru self-studying.

Let’s talk about work. During lunch shift, my captain asked me to do something which is to top-up the plates in the buffet. Then, my manager asked me to help with the service first. Honestly, they are asking me to do contrasting things at the same time. Who am I supposed to follow? Well, my logic also tells me to follow my manger although my body tells me to follow my captain. Of course, I’d follow my manager. I know that I’m at fault by not being multi-tasking. I can do the service and top-up the cutleries. It’s just that I don’t want to. Well, I do things that they asked me to, like picking up dessert, in between wiping the plates. I think that, that’s helping them enough because if I wipe the plates I can’t really do anything at all due to the number of plates I need to wipe. In addition to that, Wendy is the type who wants to finish first what you are doing first. Like, don’t do other things unless you’re done with your first task. But if you can manage, at least do it.

Today’s dinner was terrible. It was very busy like hell. It’s almost 23:00 but the restaurant is still full-house. Can you imagine that?! I actually got down by 23:15 which I don’t want to do for dinner shift since I want to catch the earliest bus possible. After I left the restaurant they were still all busy. I feel sorry for them.
