05 August 2010, Thursday

Weekends are fast approaching, and so are the busy days. I'm gonna die soon.

Today's lunch is manageable, but dinner is quite busy. For some reason lately, it'll be only busy during a certain time. Like, from 20:00 to 21:00. It's always been like that since the renovation of the Wheelhouse.

I am always in section C and D that I already know the frequent members and what table is for who. There's a couple that always eat lunch at Tavern but I never learned their names. It's just that I always see them at a certain table, table D36 which is a corner table. They will have a chilli padi with soy sauce, a saucer of balsamic vinegar with olive oil, and two bread rolls. For the water, the lady will have cold water and the gentleman will have the warm water. After the meal, the gentleman will have an apple pie without ice cream. I realized that just this afternoon because I'm the one who lead them to their seat.
There's also another couple, Mr. and Mrs. Killick who are always dining at Tavern for lunch. They will always sit at section D. Both of them will have iced water and the guy will have a glass of merlot.

Mr. Windle, who is very old, or so I thought, will always sit in section C T2 even without anyone leading him there. Well, he usually comes during our briefing so he will just seat as he pleases. When his table is taken, he will sit in Section A and B whether T5 or T8. He will always sit in the middle table. His water should be very cold with lots of ice and his soup should be boiling hot. I'm thinking that his mouth can bear the extremes. If you don't follow his orders, he will scold you!

There's also another member who usually dines during lunch - Mrs. Leong. If she's alone, she is always in a hurry, but if she's with her friend or with her husband, she'll stay there until they go home. She will always have a spoon, fork and knife for whatever dish she's having. Also, she always orders Fruit Punch with less ice cubes. Mr. Koh, who usually sits in Section D, will always have a rockmelon as appetizer and dessert.

There are also members who will always order the same food with special requests. There's this lady member who will order a gourmet burger in which the egg and patty should be burnt on both sides. But I once saw her order a different dish with egg that is still burnt on both sides. There's another member whose dessert will always be ginger pudding, and only the pudding itself with pouring cream.

I am sure that I will miss the members. My whole training in Singapore only revolves in Tavern. However, I am not really becoming sick of the work. Well, of course there are times. I like to work in Tanglin, because the members are kind and they get along well with the staff. That's the kind of workplace that I want - somewhere where everyone gets along well with each other. I want a place with a very cozy atmosphere. I still have three more months but I'm missing my colleagues already.
